BT Contact Centre Newcastle, England

The BT Contact Centre is located at the Cobalt Business Park, Tyne and Wear, Newcastle and once completed, will become the largest consumer contact centre in the BT Group Estate, creating a transformative workplace for around 1,500 EE staff. The investment will help transform the way BT works, create efficiencies and enable it to better serve its customers.

The project involves the internal fit out and refurbishment of the ground and first floors together with minor external works to the terrace area, and car park and service yard. The contract was a JCT Design and Build form with a 21-month contract duration.

The revolutionary workspace concept is based around a Village Workspace where people are inspired and empowered to achieve personal and professional success and a place where they want to visit and call home.

The village concept ensures that all employee’s needs are met and therefore, when employees have a choice of where to work, they choose to work there. Villages are by their nature large multi-functional spaces that provide a range of services and amenities to their residents.

Amphora Consulting provided Structural Engineering Services to Graham Interior Fit Out. This involved the design of all full-height partitions with a mixture of solid construction and glazed screens.

The internal village offices and meeting rooms were designed as timber structures with careful consideration and detailing given to the visible joint designs. Feature ceilings and bulkheads required new structural frames to be designed and fixed to the underside of the existing structural floor.
